ABOUT

The Union of Blind of Republika Srpska is a social-humanitarian, voluntary non-partisan, non-profit, non-governmental organization that gathers its members on the principle of free and voluntary accession to the Association, in order to develop and improve the position of blind and partially sighted people and their organizations in Republika Srpska.

The organization of blind and partially sighted people in this area has a 70-year tradition. After the Second World War, republican organizations were formed in the SFRY and its territorial units in the period 1946–1949. years that had their branches and affiliates by county. In 1949, an organization of the blind in the Bosnian Krajina was formed in the Banja Luka district. At the beginning of the 1990s, the former Yugoslavia disintegrated, and thus the unified organization of the blind SFRY and republican organizations disintegrated. In order to continue with continuous and organized care and support for blind and partially sighted people, who needed help and protection even more due to the war, an Association of Blind and Visually Impaired People of Republika Srpska was formed in Republika Srpska and BiH. The union was registered on October 12, 1992 in the High Court in Banja Luka.
